NC State students come from all 100 North Carolina counties, all 50 states and 110 countries. And their experiences are as diverse as they are. Whether they’re in the College of Design or in computer science, one of the many students currently studying abroad, or students taking online classes, one thing that unites them is the desire to take what they learn at NC State and go out and make a difference in the world.

They spend time in our top-tier libraries, and living and learning residence halls where programs such as Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) bring together students with similar academic interests. They blow off steam in our intramural programs and varsity sports. But whatever they do, they do it in a community of achievers that quietly pushes itself to collective greatness.

And they are taught by the best and the brightest. NC State’s 1,638 faculty members place an emphasis on excellence in teaching, research and extension, pushing the boundaries of knowledge for themselves and for our students. The faculty includes nine members of the National Academy of Sciences, eight members of the National Academy of Engineering, a member of the National Institute of Medicine, dozens who are nationally recognized members of their professional organizations.
