Interestingly, this honor was awarded to a volunteer not an employee of the squad.
During the week, Wilson guides NC State students at the university’s newspaper, radio station, literary magazine, online magazine and yearbook. He assists with copywriting, photography and desktop publishing. During the weekend, he is volunteering for as much as 24-hour shifts saving lives in Cary.
Wilson has spent hours training, working ambulance shifts and teaching future EMS technicians. In 2003, he volunteered more than 760 hours at the Cary Area EMS, averaging about 15 hours a week.
As if he weren’t busy enough, Wilson is also pursuing his Ph.D. in Public Administration as NC State.
