| His enthusiastic rapport-building talent landed him a brand-new position as the Calling Coach. It's his job to train new callers and coach experienced ones so that when they reach an NC State alumnus to ask for a gift to the university, it's a positive experience for everyone. Cooke, a senior from Greenville, SC, is majoring in chemistry. After graduation, he plans to pursue a career in research and development. In addition to studying and working, he is active in the American Chemical Society and intramural sports and has served in the student senate.
His Annual Fund experience, he says, has allowed him to learn, develop, and use valuable management and teamwork skills. He's committed to his work because he knows how much the university depends on donations from alumni. Alumni giving, he says, is the key to making NC State one of the nation's top universities.
Cooke plans to make his first Annual Fund gift this spring, to the Senior Class gift. In years to come, he says, he looks forward to hearing from a new generation of Annual Fund callers – who may get some phone pointers in addition to a gift!
