| As a student, Dixon led a team of engineering and design students to a first-place finish with a remote-controlled lunar rover robot in the NASA Space ‘98 Robotics Competition. She interned with Lockheed Martin and GE. She now works as an electrical engineer at Lord Corp. in Cary, NC, a company that creates products ranging from high performance adhesives to fluid devices that manage shock and vibration. She also plays the violin. Dixon and her research team at Lord Corp. were awarded the Editor’s Choice Award for Motion Product of the Year in Control Engineering for the development of the Rheonetic Pneumatic System that performs the same motion control functions as a servo system at a fraction of the cost. |
