| Helen Munt has returned from a semester abroad at the University of Iceland, investigating the hot and cold spots of the region—volcanoes and glaciers. She is a junior majoring in geology at NC State.
When Munt is not exploring the earth’s unique geological treasures, she is playing her French horn in both the NC State Wind Ensemble and the Raleigh Civic Symphony.
Her involvement in the arts here at NC State reinforces that science and art really do mix.
Munt has earned the Physical and Mathematical Sciences Fund for Excellence Scholarship and a Caldwell Scholarship. She is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Golden Key National Honors Society. She actively participates in the NCSU Navigators, a campus ministry program. She also coaches the YMCA Triangle swim team.
She plans to pursue her master’s degree in education upon graduation in order to be a high school earth science teacher. |
